Although Short Motivation can be inundated with shorts from various brands, it doesn’t feel too long ago when we were eager to see the latest collection from Orlebar Brown. What would be the colour palette that inspires the season? Would there be any new releases or updates to existing pieces? The anticipation was intense.
It feels like only a few weeks since we were admiring the subtle hues of the Spring Summer 2018 collection, High Summer 2018 is here and inspired by the tropical paradise of Bermuda and the sun-bleached shores of St Barths.
Sharp colours make up the colour palette from HS18
The palette from High Summer 2018 takes some inspiration from the previous two collections but adds power and intensity. Instead of the subdued hues of spring, expect a bright yellow (Toucan), bright pink (Paradise), a sharp green (Fern) and a bright blue (Azure).
In other areas, the signature Themis and Barthmann patterns, which are applied to the Bulldog and Setter shorts, get seasonal colour updates, whilst a retro applied-stripe design arrives for the Setter and Bulldog Adventure receives colour updates.

There are new products, too. The new Bulldog Surf is a variation on the regular swim short but designed for people who spend time on the water. You can find contrast white stitching and white side rubberised side fasteners. In addition, there’s a new heavyweight version of the Sammy t-shirt. The Christopher is a new playful take on the classic OB-T with various mottos which will make others smile whilst you are on vacation (trust us, they react).

Sebastian LS Linen Pique in Navy/Ecru

The Sebastian LS is one of our favourite polos and it has been implemented in linen for summer, which we love. The downside of the original was a relatively heavyweight cotton so to have this long sleeve pique in a lightweight linen blend now means it is perfect for the warmer months.
Although it’s in linen, this Sebastian retains its curved hem and deep three-button placket to give you a tailored staple for the summer.
Sammy T-shirt in Riviera/Cloud/Azure
Sammy Classic-Fit T-Shirt
Although there’s a brand new heavyweight Sammy available for summer, this classic style has been updated in this three-way colour mix.
Compared to our favourite OB t-shirt, the OB-T, the Sammy is a more relaxed fitting piece with a more heavyweight cotton. This particular style also has Breton stripes in triple colours to brighten up your summer attire without being too overwhelming. Easily wear this on multiple occasions whilst you swap your shorts to contrast.

Bulldog Surf in Navy
Bulldog Surf
Enhancing the classic, where it all began, but with a twist. The Bulldog Surf is a great remix on the favourite Bulldog tailored short. The Surf is slightly more rugged than its original namesake, geared towards people who are hitting the surf, paddleboarding and similar.
The primary difference is the contrast white stitching and white rubberised side adjusters. Available in Navy, Storm and Azure.

When summer finally arrives and we get the really good weather it’s sometimes difficult to remember that you may need an evening staple for when the temperature drops, or alternatively when the mornings start off a little cooler.
This Karson, which is a classic take on the pullover hoodie is made from a lightweight cotton so it will keep you warm but not too hot. It also has drawstring cords and kangaroo pockets and enables you to look stylish when the temperature drops. Why not try mixing this up with a pair of white Bulldog’s for the ideal summer morning style.

Christopher “Out of Office”

You’ve probably seen the Christopher before. Originally part of the #obsaroundtheworld promotion, where you could grab a free Christopher if you used the tag on a holiday photo with you in your OBs. They became hard to source and you were limited to one per person.
Well, now you can invest in more than one with all the mottos, such as “Pool Boy” or “Out of Office”, which is one of our favourites. Based on a simple white OB-T.
