BeoPlay announce E8; wireless earbuds available from October

Listen to music, take a call, control Siri from your wireless earphones

BeoPlay, a division of Danish audio manufacturer Bang & Olufsen, has announced E8, which is a pair of wireless earbuds. They look good and we’re hoping they sound as good as they appear. Connected to your phone using Bluetooth, simply turn on the buds and you control your music, calls and voice-control your phone directly from the buds, meaning you can leave your phone in your bag and not have to worry about missing a call.

Whilst you’re listening to a track, simply touch and hold the right bud to increase volume. Quickly pause or move to a new track and if a call comes in whilst you are listening to your music, simply touch to take the call, touch and hold to reject or double-tap to end a current conversation.

E8’s with the charging case

The E8 includes 4 hours of battery power at a ‘moderate’ volume, meaning you might find it’s much less in a real-life environment such as walking around a city centre where you’ll have the volume turned up to counteract traffic noise. Luckily the fantastic E8 storage case will charge your buds between use, for two charges, offering you 12 hours before you need to perform a full charge.

The E8’s are splash and dust resistant, meaning they can be used for a jog or at the gym. We’d be slightly wary of going for a fast run, however, in case one of the buds falls out and you quickly lose one bud on the move. There’s a ‘Transparency Mode’ enabling you to control how much of the outside you can hear when listening to music. With 4 levels of control, you can allow some outside interference if you prefer to be aware of your surroundings.

Although announced, the E8’s are unavailable to purchase until October, so there’s a wait before you can get your hands on a pair. At launch, there’s a solid black and a charcoal sand variation and the E8 retails for $299/€299/£259.

You can be notified of the launch date right now, but if you prefer to wait, head to your local BeoPlay stockist or the BeoPlay website to purchase from October.
