Prince & Bond release “Art of the Sea” inspired Summer 2017 collection

Second collection consists of twelve shorts inspired by the sea

Prince & Bond, the New York designer of contemporary men’s swimwear, has released it’s second collection, inspired by the sea, for Summer 2017. Sharp block colours include scarlet, tango, peacock and calypso, whilst the collection also includes two shark tooth prints which have taken a design cue from the artist M.C. Escher.

The second season shorts are all based on Prince & Bond’s “Elvio” signature silhouette. With a 5.5″ inseam and mid-length finish, the Elvio is designed to be a contemporary take on men’s swimwear, taking construction cues from tailored trousers. The shorts include adjustable waist tabs, a flat-fronted closure, two side slash pockets, a single zipped back pocket and side slits for flexibility. Manufactured in Portugal, using a 100% nylon fabric, and tested against chlorine, saltwater and UV rays, the shorts are quick-drying, enabling the wearer to choose a single pair to take them through the day.

The Wave is inspired by the chaotic nature of the sea

The new season sees Prince & Bond partnering with New York artist Christina Chobot to create the painted Côte d’Azur and patterned The Wave shorts.  The Côte d’Azur offers a vibrant rendition of a timeless Mediterranean lifestyle, bright colours have been used to reflect the contrast between the sea, pool and sky. The Wave is taken from an original oil painting, using a pattern to emphasise the chaotic nature of the sea.

At Short Motivation we are particularly keen to get our hands on a couple of pairs from Season II, so watch our social media for future inspiration. What has caught our attention is the cut, finish and attention to detail of the latest collection.

We’ve picked out a couple of shorts from the most recent collection.

Scarlet. At Short Motivation we love a bright short and the cut, shape and length of this has our attention.

Based on the Elvio cut, this 5.5″ mid-length plain colour short is your ideal day-to-day piece which should see you through from morning to evening, whatever your activity.

At Short Motivation we’re huge admirers of the right type of brightly coloured short and they are quite difficult to find. This bright red (Scarlet) has our attention. Combine this colour with a white t-shirt or polo top and you can wear your short for lunch and if you want to make an impact around the pool, this is the style we’d select.

The Scarlet is priced at $125.

Shark Tooth II. A patterned tessellation creates a distinct short, available in two colours.

Another short based on the Elvio cut, this quick-drying short will make an impact on the sea with its distinct silhouette, sharp style and consistent pattern.

We’re keen to get hold of this short as it’s tricky finding a similar short with such a distinctive pattern. We think this short will look good combined with a tailored shirt or perhaps a long-sleeved polo.

The Shark Tooth II is available in two colours, black/white and navy/white and retails for $150.

The Prince & Bond “Art of the Sea” (season II) collection is available now and ships from this week. Stock is limited, so if you want a short to make an impact, we suggest you head to the Prince & Bond website to make your selection.
