High-end audio company joins forces with famous camera brand to create a range of exclusively designed headphones
Master & Dynamic, an American manufacturer of high-end audio equipment, has combined forces with Leica, the famous German camera brand, to create a capsule collection of audio equipment which is inspired by the designs of the world’s fastest spherical lens, the Leica Noctilux-M.
The collection consists of two over-ear headphones (one wireless, the other Bluetooth compatible), a set of in-ear headphones and a unique stand to host your over-ear headphones.
Master & Dynamic founder & CEO Jonathan Levine, describes the reasoning behind a collaboration between the two brands from very different industries: “When I set out to create Master & Dynamic, I asked my team to think about our approach to headphones the same way revered premium brands I admire treat their products. I’ve loved Leica’s aesthetic and craftsmanship for quite some time, so to be partnering with them on a design project within three years of the launch of Master & Dynamic is truly an honor. It’s amazing to see how many fans and enthusiasts we have in common.”
The improvements to the collaboration headphones are purely visual, so the high quality audio experience you’d expect from a Master & Dynamic product, remains. The headphones are made from black cowhide, surrounded by black chrome over solid brass, featuring a signature design homage to the Noctilux: a Leica red dot, red acoustic ear pad mesh, and 0.95 custom etching or knurling.
The MW60 Wireless Bluetooth over-ear headphones retail for $549/£500. The wired edition, the MH40, will retail for $399/£379. The in-ear ME05 earphones can be picked up for $199/£180, with the the ultimate accessory, the M&D Leica stand, available for $59/£50.
The range will ship from the 11th of May and are all available from the Master & Dynamic website, various Leica boutiques worldwide and from the Mr Porter website.
