Is Hollywood Beach the new South Florida destination?

Miami is one our favourite locations here at Short Motivation. Home to all-year fantastic weather, great restaurants and one of our most loved city districts, Wynwood. It’s where we first discovered 1 Hotels, a brand we really always support and appreciate what they’re doing for the environment and sustainability.

A quiet beach town, situated between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, is becoming the new go to area in South Florida. Hollywood, although very different from its California namesake, began its transformation in 2015 with the opening of the $175 million Margaritaville Beach Resort.

This year saw the renovation of the old Westin hotel, becoming The Diplomat Beach Resort. The resort was recently bought by the Hilton group and is part of their special range of one-off hotels – the Curio collection. With a thousand rooms, the complex is huge and has long been a staple of Hollywood beach area. With the recent renovations, it has upped its game tremendously and features an infinity pool, waterfalls and a lagoon-style main pool. Additionally, there are 10 new on-site restaurants, so there won’t be any need for you to leave.

Expanding on the existing SLS Hotels in South Beach and Brickel, SBE, the group behind the iconic collection has opened the Hyde Resort & Residences Hollywood. This is the first of three properties scheduled to open in South Florida. The hotel maintains the SLS style that has become associated with the brand, with contemporary art, bright light colours and modern architecture. There is an infinity pool deck, with daybeds and day parties should you so inclined. The resort is also family friendly, but if you feel inclined, you can attend pool parties at the weekend.

It seems that there are several reasons to expand on your previous South Florida experience by visiting Hollywood Beach. At the moment, since it is all still fairly new, prices are very competitive and if your budget is tight, the budget long-haul airline Norwegian flies directly to Fort Lauderdale, just a short drive away from Hollywood Beach.
